Meyer Logistik delivers to supermarkets throughout Europe every single day – often in the heart of a city and in the early hours of the morning before the shops open. It is therefore important to us that we only use delivery vehicles that are quiet and low on emissions. Lorries run on natural gas are an innovative means of significantly reducing or entirely eliminating CO
2 and particulate emissions. A lorry powered by natural gas also substantially reduces noise pollution, as it is around 5 decibels quieter on the road than a comparable diesel-powered HGV! We have also succeeded in reducing noise emissions even further by integrating the refrigeration unit into the gas powertrain: the first of its kind in Germany, the key to this solution is a hydraulic pump directly attached to the engine which drives a hydraulic motor connected to the cooling compressor of the refrigeration unit. Our innovative natural gas-powered HGVs have been demonstrating their roadworthiness in the Greater Berlin area since May 2009. And we are confident that further areas will soon follow.
